Weather and Seasons

When is the best time to see the wildflowers?

The wildflower season typically runs from late July to early September, with peak blooming usually in August, depending on the winter rainfall.

What are the temperatures like throughout the year?

  • Summer (Nov-Feb): 25-40°C during the day, cooling to 15-25°C at night
  • Autumn (Mar-May): 20-30°C during the day, 10-15°C at night
  • Winter (Jun-Aug): 15-25°C during the day, 0-10°C at night (it very seldom drops below freezing)
  • Spring (Sep-Oct): 20-30°C during the day, 10-15°C at night

Does it snow in winter?

It does not snow in the valley but does snow on the higher peaks of the Cederberg mountains during winter. Snow may be visible on the peaks when looking west up the valley on these days, and if a westerly wind blows, it does drop the temperature considerably - a good time to snuggle up inside in front of a fire! The farm can experience frost occasionally in the winter mornings.
