Book Fig tree

Fig Tree House sits on a small ridge with views across the Biedouw River Valley. It’s a remote, off-grid cottage on Enjo Nature Farm, and a good base for exploring the farm and the wider Cederberg. Guests have private access to a stretch of the Biedouw River.

The farmhouse comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests across two well-appointed bedrooms and day beds in the living area. The master bedroom features a queen-sized bed with quality linens and stunning valley views. The second bedroom has two single beds and can be configured to your needs along with the daybeds in the living area.

At the heart of the farmhouse is a generous open-plan living area that combines kitchen, dining and lounge spaces under high ceilings with exposed wooden beams. Large windows frame the spectacular landscape, allowing natural light to flood the interior throughout the day.

The fully-equipped kitchen includes a gas stove and oven, large refrigerator/freezer, essential cookware and utensils, and a dining area with seating for 6 or more. The lounge area has seating arranged around an indoor fireplace. French doors open onto a wide veranda with views across the valley. The outdoor space includes a covered dining area, firepit, and seating for sundowners.

As an off-grid property, Figtree Farmhouse operates with minimal environmental impact. The home is powered by a solar system for electricity, features gas heated water, employs eco-friendly waste management, and water is supplied from a solar borehole.

The surrounding area is home to wildlife including Springbok, Steenbok, Duiker and Fallow Deer, which are often seen at dawn and dusk. Cape Mongoose are common, and Cape Clawless Otter have been seen along the river.

The house is about 3km from our farmhouse. One section has thick sand that can challenge normal vehicles, and part of the route is rocky, so high-clearance vehicles are generally preferred. Please check with us when booking to confirm your vehicle will be suitable.

Frequently Asked Questions

While a 4x4 or high-clearance vehicle does make it easier, it is possible to drive to Fig Tree House in a normal vehicle although there is one stretch of deep sand where caution is advised. Please contact us to discuss the current road conditions as they can change throughout the year.

Yes, the water comes from a nearby borehole and is drinkable. The water does, however, have a slightly salty taste because of the presence of minerals, and so we also provide you with containers of spring water from our farm.
